I have always been fascinated by how we represent information visually, in particular physical objects. Currently, I am focused on urban-scale objects (buildings, landmarks, etc.) and exploring emerging technologies and their capacity to immerse people in digital spaces. My dissertation explores the role that level of detail, abstraction, and interaction play when trying to understand urban-scale 3D models. I also explore the computational techniques required to create such models from aerial 2D imagery. This research can help us create better tools for training professionals in a variety of fields that require spatial abilities and improved performance.
