Graduate Student, Department of Biological Sciences

I am a graduate student in the Department of Biological Sciences. Growing up I was always interested in how the brain works and made it my goal to become a Neuroscientist! My research focuses on how the brain and the immune system interact with one another. One aspect I focus on is how the brain and immune system interact after the brain suffers injury or infection. As we expect, the brain becomes inflamed which can cause damage within the brain, but another affect we did not expect is liver damage.   We investigate what mechanisms can possibly cause this damage so one day we can better understand how to help patients suffering from liver damage after brain injury.
