Laurie Agosto

PREP Scholar, Molecular Microbiology and Immunology

I am a first year post-baccalaureate (PREP) student at the University of Missouri. I currently am conducting research in the laboratory of Dr. Margaret Lange who specializes in retroviruses. I am studying pattern recognition receptors which get activated by pathogens such as viruses and bacteria. Specifically I am studying Toll-Like-Receptor 3 (TLR3) which is a pattern recognition receptor which gets activated by double stranded RNA and determine if there is a specific sequences it binds to. My goal after this experience is to pursue my PhD and enter a career working with infectious diseases at the CDC.
